Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI)

India and New Zealand have signed five agreements in the fields of Defence, Education, Sports, Horticulture, and Forestry. Both sides also exchanged the Authorized Economic Operator Mutual Recognition Agreement.

  • New Zealand has joined the Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative and has become a member of the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.

Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI)

  • The Indo-Pacific Oceans Initiative (IPOI) was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the 14th East Asia Summit on 4 November 2019 at Bangkok.
  • It has seven pillars: Maritime Ecology Maritime Security Marine Resources Capacity Building and Resource Sharing Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Science, Technology and Academic Cooperation Trade, Connectivity and Maritime Transport.
