Goa is set to be home to the country’s first sand dune park which will further promote the tourism activities.
- The World Bank has accepted the proposal of the Biodiversity Board of the state and has sanctioned a sum of 3 crores for the project.
- Morjim and Galibaga beaches are among the ones that’ll get this sand dune feature.
What are sand dunes?
- Sand dunes are geological deposits formed by the action of wind.
- A sand dune is a mount, hill or ridge of sand that lies behind the part of the beach affected by tides.
- They are formed over many years when windblown sand is trapped by beach grass or other stationary objects.
