India’s first PPP-model based green waste processing plant

Indore is all set to make a significant leap towards environmental sustainability with the launch of India’s first PPP-model based green waste processing plant under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Urban. This initiative aims to convert green waste into valuable resources, reinforcing the city’s reputation as India’s cleanest city.

  • Location: Bicholi Hapsi, Indore (55,000 sq. ft.)
  • Revenue Model: IMC to earn ₹3,000 per tonne in royalty from wood & branches.
  • PPP Partner: Astronomical Industries Pvt. Ltd.

How It Works?

  • Recycles wood and branches into wooden pellets, an eco-friendly alternative to coal.
  • Branches of large trees will be processed at City Forest’s Green Waste Processing Plant.
  • Fine sawdust will be repurposed into multiple sustainable products.
  • Sawdust Applications:
    • Eco-friendly fuel – A cleaner alternative to traditional burning.
    • Durable packaging material – Reduces plastic dependency.
    • Furniture composite – Adds strength to chairs & tables.
    • Organic fertilizer – Enriches soil for healthier crops.
    • Biodegradable disposable plates – Sustainable alternative to plastic & Styrofoam.
