India’s first Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine technology solution (H2-ICE) for heavy duty trucks

Reliance Industries and Ashok Leyland on February 6 unveiled India’s first Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine technology solution (H2-ICE) for heavy duty trucks.

  • H2-ICE is powered Heavy Duty truck. Ashok Leyland had been developing the H2ICE heavy-duty truck in partnership with RIL over the past year.
  • It is based on a conventional diesel engine. The company’s new H2-ICE heavy-duty truck range is powered by Hydrogen fuel and is based on its conventional diesel-based combustion engine.
  • Ashok Leyland claims that this would help quicker migration to cleaner energy sources at a relatively lower cost delta.
  • Emission levels of Hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (H2ICE)-powered trucks are near zero. It can deliver “performance on par with conventional diesel trucks and reduce noise and with projected reductions in operating costs thus redefining the future of Green Mobility.”
