Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) has introduced new green rating tools as part of its Net Zero mission to accelerate the uptake of green building projects in the country.
- IGBC is established by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in 2001 to actively promote the Green Building concept in India.
- The new green rating tools of IGBC were launched at the Indian Green Building Congress, held in Chennai between November 23-25, 2023.
- They include Net Zero Carbon Rating and upgraded rating systems – Green Existing Building Rating Version 1.0, Green Factory Rating Version 2.0, and Green Campus Rating Version 1.0.
- The building and construction sector in India accounted for nearly one-third of the total GHG emissions inventory covering both operational and embodied emissions in 2021.
Vijayawada Railway Station gets Platinum Certification
- Vijayawada Railway Station has been given Platinum Certification- The Highest Standard IGBC (Indian Green Building Council) Rating at Green Building Congress held at Chennai Trade Centre.
- Senior officers of the Railways received the certification for Vijayawada Railway Station.
