- India boxers have rounded off their engagements with their best ever performance at the 69th Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria.
- In the capital city of Sofia on 25 February, India boxers ended with a whopping 11 medals – five from men and six from women boxers.
- Overall, the Indian contingent clinched two gold, three silver and six bronze medals.
- Best boxer of the event: Vikas Krishan, who claimed a gold medal in 75 kg category, was also adjudged the best boxer of the event, a first for an Indian.
- Another Gold medal was clinched by Amit Panghal. In the 49 kg division final, defeating Morocco’s Said Mordaji.
- M C Mary Kom, Seema Poonia and Gaurav Solanki won Silver medal in their respective categories.
- Meena Kumari Devi, L Sarita Devi, Saweety Boora and Bhagyabati Kachari clinched the Bronze in their categories.
- 69th International Boxing Tournament “Strandja”, was opened to boxers (Men and Women) between the age of 19 and 40. Categories.
- The tournament was held between 18-26 February 2018 in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
