India successfully test fires K-4 missile off Andhra Pradesh coast

India on January 19, 2020 successfully test-fired nuclear capable submarine-launched k-4 ballistic missile off coast of Andhra Pradesh.

The 3,500 km strike range K-4 was test-firing was carried out from an underwater platform in the sea.

Features

  • It is being developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
  • It will be deployed on the fleet of the Arihant Class nuclear submarines being built by India.
  • Two underwater missiles are being developed by India for its submarine force. These are K-4 and BO-5.
