The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), in collaboration with the World Economic Forum (WEF), has launched the India Skills Accelerator—a national public-private platform aimed at strengthening India’s skilling ecosystem in the face of rapid technological and economic changes.
Objective:
To address critical skill gaps—identified by 65% of organizations as a major barrier—through inclusive and systemic reform in skilling strategies.
Key Goals of the Accelerator:
- Mindset Shift & Awareness:
- Raise awareness about the future of work and emerging skill requirements.
- Encourage a cultural shift towards continuous learning and upskilling.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Facilitate cross-sector partnerships and knowledge exchange among industry, government, academia, and civil society.
- Promote collective innovation in skilling models.
- Policy & Institutional Reform:
- Upgrade institutional structures and policy frameworks to support a flexible and adaptive skilling ecosystem.
- Encourage investments in lifelong learning and reskilling initiatives.
