- The Global Pension Index is a global study that shines a light on how nations are preparing their aging populations for retirement. It drew praise for being well governed and providing strong benefits to retirees, including a generous state pension.
- The scores of 11 countries, including India and South Korea, slipped this year as the world battles to limit the economic fallout from the Covid-19 crisis. India has ranked 40th out of 43 countries.
- India had stood at 34th position out of 39 pension systems rated in 2020.
- India had an overall index value of 43.3 among the countries analysed, lower than the index value of 45.7 for 2020
