India-Nepal Solu Corridor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba on April 2 jointly flagged off the 35-kilometer long cross-border passenger train services between Jaynagar of Bihar in India and Kurtha in Nepal.

  • They also jointly inaugurated Solu Corridor 132 KV Power Transmission Line and Substation in Nepal built under Governemnt of India’s Line of Credit.
  • The two Prime Ministers launched RuPay Card in Nepal. After that four MoUs were signed in the presence of both Prime Ministers.
  • Nepal also became the 105th member country to sign on to the Framework Agreement of International Solar Alliance (ISA).
  • Deuba was on a three­ day visit to India. This was his first bilateral visit abroad after becoming Prime Minister in July 2021.
  • Overall it was the fifth visit of Mr Deuba to India as a Prime Minister who have played a key role in the development of relationship between the two countries.
