Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida hold 14th India Japan Annual Summit in New Delhi on March 19.
- This was Mr Kishida’s first visit to India since he took charge of the office last year. The 14th India Japan Annual Summit is the first meeting of Mr Modi and Mr Kishida.
- During media briefing, Mr Modi said, Japan’s cooperation in India’s flagship projects such as the Dedicated Freight Corridor and the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail has been remarkable. He said, India is grateful to Japan for this contribution.
- The Prime Minister said, there has been good progress in the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Project. He said, both India and Japan understand the importance of a secure, trusted, predictable and stable energy supply.
- During the meeting, India and Japan set an investment target of “five trillion yen” ($42 billion) in the next five years.
- Both countries signed six agreements in the areas including cyber security, waste water management and clean energy after the Annual Summit.
