India International Cherry Blossom Festival, held annually in Shillong has been cancelled in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Meghalaya’s capital, Shillong hosts the only Cherry Blossoms festival in India.
  • While they grow in the wild, they are also spotted across the state, especially during October-November month.
  • Every year, the Cherry Blossom Festival in Shillong hosts a plethora of events like fitness art, fashion show, rock concerts and much more.
  • A cherry blossom is a flower of many trees of genus Prunus. The most well-known species is the Japanese cherry, Prunus serrulata, which is commonly called sakura.
