India hosted the third Voice of Global South Summit on 19 August 2024 on the virtual format that was joined by 123 nations across the globe.
- China and Pakistan were not invited in this summit.
- The theme of the Summit was – An Empowered Global South for a Sustainable Future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the Leaders’ session at the summit.
- The Prime Minister proposed a comprehensive Global development compact on behalf of India.
- India had hosted the 1st Voice of Global South Summit (VOGSS) on 12-13 January 2023, and the 2nd Voice of Global South Summit on 17 November 2023, both in virtual format.
- In the last few years, India has been positioning itself as a leading voice, flagging concerns, challenges and aspirations of the Global South or the developing nations, especially the African continent.
