Hualong One is China’s first domestically developed nuclear reactor. It was connected to the national grid on November 27, 2020.

- According to the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), this marks China breaking the monopoly of foreign nuclear power technology and officially entering the technology’s first batch of advanced countries.
- Its designed lifespan is 60 years. It has 177 reactor cores, which will be replaced every 18 months.
- Nuclear energy contribute less than five percent of China’s annual electricity needs in 2019.
