Union home minister Amit Shah on May 3 inaugurated National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) campus in Bengaluru.
- It will help in stopping modern day crimes and have the upper hand against any threats.
- The government has entrusted the task of developing and operating a state-of-the-art and innovative information technology platform for accessing information from the data collection organisations to NATGRID.
- Union Home Minister said the new technology should have an in-built mechanism for continuous upgradation and that there should be a study group in NATGRID to create a database of modus operandi of various crimes committed within the country.
- National Intelligence Grid (NATGRID) has been conceived to develop cutting edge technology to enhance India’s counter terror capabilities.
- The NATGRID solutions are being made accessible to 11 central agencies and police of all states and Union territories.
- The network will link user agencies with data holders, giving them access to real-time information needed for intelligence services and investigations.
