According to the Global Times, China has successfully powered up its “artificial sun” nuclear fusion reactor called HL-2M Tokamak for the first time.
- The reactor is located in Sichuan province and the reactor is often called an “artificial sun” on account of the enormous heat and power it produces.
- This power generator can produce green energy by combining two atoms.
- The HL-2M Tokamak is designed to work like a sun that powers our solar system.
- It uses a powerful magnetic field to fuse hot plasma and can reach temperatures of over 150 million degrees Celsius — approximately ten times hotter than the core of the sun.
