Index: Global Talent Competitiveness Index 2018 (GTCI 2018) was released on 23 January, 2018 at Davos World Economic Forum summit.
Who published: The GTCI 2018 was published by INSEAD Business School, in partnership with the Adecco and Tata Communications.
India’s ranking: India has improved its ranking compare to last year. India is placed at 81st rank. In 2017, India was placed at 92nd position. So it has improved by 11 position which is good improvement. But worry part is that India’s ranking is the worst among the five member BRICS countries. Among BRICS member; China is ranked 43rd, Russian Federation is at 53rd, followed by South Africa (63) and Brazil (73).
Top ranker: Switzerland has topped the talent index. Switzerland is followed by Singapore and the United States of America.
Theme: The index was released with the theme of ‘Diversity for competitiveness’.
Basis of Ranking: Countries were ranked based on their performances in formal Education, Lifelong Learning and the pool of Global Knowledge Skills.
Global Cities Talent Competitiveness Index: With Countries talent index, Global Cities Talent Competitiveness Index was also published which was topped by Swiss city Zurich. 8 out of the top 10 ranking cities are located in Europe, and two in the United States of America.
