- Japan on July 6, 2018 executed Seven members of the Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult, which carried out the deadly 1995 sarin gas attack on the Tokyo subway.
- The sarin gas attack, Japan’s worst terror incident, had killed 13 people and injured at least 5,800 people, some permanently.
- Aum Shinrikyo doomsday cult leader Shoko Asahara, whose real name is Chizuo Matsumoto, had been in prison for 22 years before his execution
- Sarin is a nerve gas which was originally developed by the Nazis.
