Year 2020 saw its last supermoon on May 8, 2020. Other two supermoons occurred on March 9 and across April 7–8.
- May’s full moon or Supermoon is also known as the Flower Moon. The Flower Moon is named for the increased fertility of plants during early May.
- A ‘Flower Moon’ is also called a ‘Mother’s Moon’, ‘Milk Moon’ or ‘Corn Planting Moon’.
- According to the Space.com, in the First week of May 2020, the moon reached perigee, or the point in its object where it is closest to Earth, which made it appear even bigger and brighter in the sky. Because perigee was only two days before the full moon, NASA considers it a “supermoon.” it refers to the fact that the full moon can appear up 7% bigger and 15% brighter than usual when the moon is slightly closer to Earth.
