Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated three floating Border Outposts (BOP) on the Indo-Bangladesh border on May 5 to protect the inaccessible areas of the Sundarbans.
- The floating Border Outposts (BOP) Sutlej, Kaveri and Narmada have been built by the Koch Shipyard. Each BOP costs Rs. 38 crore and weighs around 53 thousand metric tonnes.
- The floating BOPs are equipped with modern facilities and safety equipment. The front section of the BOP is bullet proof for the safety of the jawans.
- The BOPs can remain afloat with a DG set without refuelling for a month. A BOP is accompanied by 6 small boats and it has adequate arrangements to prevent both infiltration and smuggling.
Maitri Sangrahalaya
- Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of ‘Maitri Sangrahalaya’ on May 5 at the India-Bangladesh Border.
- Laying down the foundation stone of the ‘Friendship Museum’, Home Minister Amit Shah said that during the 1970s horrific human rights violations were committed in the neighbouring country.
