Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on September 25, 201 addressed the first mega conference of cooperatives in New Delhi.
- Mr Shah said the Ministry of Cooperation has been formed to strengthen and modernize cooperatives sector and make them more transparent. He said, cooperative movement is more relevant today.
- Outlining the government’s vision and roadmap for the development of the Cooperative sector, Mr Shah said, government will soon bring new cooperative policy.
About Ministry of Co-operation
- ‘Ministry of Co-operation’ has been created by the Modi Government for realizing the vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’.
- This ministry provides a separate administrative, legal and policy framework for strengthening the cooperative movement in the country.
- The new Ministry of Cooperation has been created, inter alia, by transferring the existing entries related to cooperation and cooperative in the business of the erstwhile Department of Agriculture Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, along with new fresh generic entries.
