Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg on October 28, 2021 announced that the parent company’s corporate name is being changed to “Meta” to represent a future beyond just its troubled social network.
- Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp will keep their names under the rebranding.
- Zuckerberg said the name was inspired by the Greek word meta, which means “beyond.
- The company also replaced its corporate sign, which featured a picture of a “thumbs up,” outside of its California, headquarters with one touting its new logo: a blue infinity sign.
- Mark Zuckerberg is the founder, chairman and CEO of Facebook, which he founded in 2004.
