The Karnataka Biodiversity Board has said that 100 acres of mangrove forest near Pancha Gangavali estuary in Kundapur taluk will be declared as traditional biodiversity hot spot.
- A cast area of Kandla (mangrove forest) is found in Pancha Gangavali in Karnataka. It has been decided to declare it as a traditional biodiversity spot.
- The Kandla forest at the estuary was spread over 100 acres and the Forest Department was making every effort to protect and preserve the same.
- The biodiversity hotspot tag would enhance protection and conservation efforts, he said.
- Though there were many Kandla forests along the Karnataka coast, the one in Panchagangavali Tiver perhaps has been the largest.
- It has grown over the years inside the water and the marshy land .
