- The Union Agriculture Ministry has set up an Agri Business Incubation Centre in Indira Gandhi Agriculture University of Raipur. It has started functioning.
- Agri Business Incubation Centre is set up under the National Agriculture Development Scheme- RAFTAAR.
- The Agri Business Incubation Centre in Raipur with focus on innovations, skill building and entrepreneurs development in agriculture and allied sectors will act as catalyst for developing an ecosystem conducive for growth of agripreneurship in the state and foster a “start-up” culture.
About RAFTAAR
- The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on November 1, 2017 had approved the continuation of Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) as Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana- Remunerative Approaches for Agriculture and Allied sector Rejuvenation (RKVY-RAFTAAR) for three years i.e. 2017-18 to 2019-20.
- It is aimed at strengthening infrastructure in Agriculture and Allied sectors to promote Agripreneurship and Agribusiness by facilitating financial aid and nurturing a system of business incubation.
- The objective of the scheme is to make farming a remunerative economic activity by strengthening farmer’s effort, risk mitigation and promoting agribusiness entrepreneurship. Under the scheme, guidance, technology and infrastructure will be provided to youth and entrepreneurs for start-ups in different areas of agriculture.
