The Solvent Extractors Association of India (SEA) has appealed to the government to reconsider its decision to extend the ban on de-oiled rice bran (DORB) exports until January 31, 2025.
SEA argues that the continued restriction is causing severe underutilisation of processing plants, particularly in eastern India.
Its concerns extend beyond the export ban. Recent instances of adulteration in rice bran oil and de-oiled rice bran with substances like dolomite and corn DDGS have raised alarms.
De-oiled rice bran (DORB)
After crude oil has been extracted from rice bran, DORB is obtained.
DORB is a good source of protein, which is essential for cattle growth and development.
It also helps to improve the quality of the meat and milk produced by cattle.
DORB is a good source of fiber, which helps to keep cattle digestive systems healthy.
It also helps to prevent constipation and diarrhea.
DORB is a natural and organic feed that is safe for cattle to eat. It is free of chemicals and artificial additives.
Rice Bran oil
Rice Bran oil has multiple health benefits, including lowering cholesterol level due to its low trans-fat content and high mono unsaturated and poly unsaturated fat contents.
It also acts as a booster and reduces the risk of cancer due to the high amount of Vitamin E it contains.
This oil is recommended by The American Heart Association and the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the best substitutes for other edible oils.
