Union Home Minister inaugurated the Country’s first Nano DAP plant by IFFCO near Kalol in Gandhinagar (Gujarat).
Key points
- Unlike the solid DAP and Urea, the liquid nano DAP will not affect the nutrients in the soil and will have zero harmful metal particles.
- The DAP plant will largely benefit the farmers of the region. The Nano liquid dap plant in Kalol has been set up by IFFCO at the cost of 300 crore rupees.
- The plant has been developed in tune with the Aatmnirbhar Bharat vision. IFFCO Nano DAP is an efficient source of available nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P2O5) for all the crops and helps in correcting the Nitrogen & Phosphorus deficiencies in standing crops.
- Nano DAP formulation contains Nitrogen (8.0% N w/v) and Phosphorus (16.0 % P2O5 w/v).Nano DAP (Liquid) has advantage in terms of surface area to volume as its particle size is less than 100 Nanometre (nm).
- This unique property enables it to enter easily inside the seed surface or through stomata and other plant openings.
- Due to it being a liquid, the nano DAP will minimally contaminate the land.
- While one bag of conventional DAP costs around 1300 rupees, the farmers can get one bottle of nano liquid DAP for just 600 rupees which can be carried by farmers in their pockets.
- The plant will lead to a significant reduction in imports of DAP and also will bring down the logistics and warehousing costs.
- The plant will produce 5 crore bottles of Nano dap liquid equivalent to 25 tons of DAP.
