- Conrad Sangma was sworn-in as the Meghalaya’s 12th Chief Minister on March 6, 2018.
- He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Governor Ganga Prasad at a function in Shillong.
- He is the president of National People’s Party (NPP) and also the son of former Lok Sabha Speaker late PA Sangma.
- Mr Sangma was invited by the Governor to form the government after he staked the claim with the support of 34 MLAs of five parties in the 60-member Assembly.
- The MLAs include 19 from NPP, six from United Democratic Party, four of the People’s Democratic Front, two each of the Hill State People’s Democratic Party and the BJP, and an Independent.
- The Congress, which had been in power in the state for the last 10 years, won 21 seats.

Special Feature: All- women Managed Polling Stations’ were set up in one polling station for each Assembly Constituency where the entire polling staff, including the police and security personnel, shall be women.
