According to the central government, As on March 2021, funds of Rs 453 crore have been deposited in the Clean Ganga Fund.
- Major organizations and general public at large are coming forward to contribute to the Ganga fund, some even regularly and from their pension as well, which only strengthens our resolve at the Mission to achieve our objective of a clean and healthy Ganga, says Shri Rozy Aggarwal, Executive Director Finance, National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG).
- Clean Ganga Fund (CGF), created in 2014, has been created with the objective of contributing to the national effort of improving the cleanliness of the river Ganga with the contributions received from the residents of the country, NRIs/ PIO and others.
- It is operated through a bank account by a Trust.
- Domestic donors to the fund are eligible for tax benefits as in the case of “Swachch Bharat Kosh”. Foreign donors also get suitable tax exemptions in domestic law, wherever permissible.
