US President Joe Biden has announced a goal of bringing down cancer death rates by 50 per cent by the year 2047.
- As Vice President, in 2016, Joe Biden launched the Cancer Moonshot with the mission to accelerate the rate of progress against cancer.
- Joe Biden is reigniting the Cancer Moonshot with renewed White House leadership of this effort.
- The initiative is personal for Biden, who lost his son Beau to brain cancer in 2015 and who first launched the initiative as vice president.
- The initiative will also aim to “improve the experience of people and their families living with and surviving cancer.
