Cabinet approves PLI Scheme to 10 key Sectors for Enhancing

The Union Cabinet on November 11, 2020 gave its approval to introduce the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme in the 10 key sectors for Enhancing India’s Manufacturing Capabilities and Enhancing Exports – Atmanirbhar Bharat.

  • The PLI scheme will be implemented by the concerned ministries/departments and will be within the overall financial limits prescribed.
  • The PLI scheme across these 10 key specific sectors will make Indian manufacturers globally competitive, attract investment in the areas of core competency and cutting-edge technology; ensure efficiencies; create economies of scale; enhance exports and make India an integral part of the global supply chain.

The 10 key sectors for which the PLI scheme has been announced, are:

  1. Advance Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery
  2. Electronic/Technology Products
  3. Automobiles & Auto Components
  4. Pharmaceuticals drugs
  5. Telecom & Networking Products
  6. Textile Products: MMF segment and technical textiles
  7. Food Products
  8. High Efficiency Solar PV Modules
  9. White Goods (ACs & LED)
  10. Speciality Steel.

The Government of India had earlier announced PLI scheme for three other sectors: Mobile Manufacturing and Specified Electronic Components, Drug Intermediaries and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and Manufacturing of Medical Devices.
