The Assam state cabinet has given approval to revised draft notification for declaration of an Eco-Sensitive Zone of Bherjan-Borajan-Padumoni Wildlife Sanctuary in Tinsukia for a distance of one kilometre around the wildlife sanctuary as per the Supreme Court directive.
- It is spread across 7.22 kms covering three blocks in the district and three forests – Bherjan, Borajan and Padumoni forests.
- Some of the mammals found in the Sanctuary are Slow Loris, Assamese Macaque, Pig tailed Macaque, Rhesus Macaque, Capped Langur, Stump tailed Macaque and Hoolock Gibbon, besides few Leopards, Wild Pigs and Giant Flying Squirrel etc.
