- Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Singh Mann was sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Punjab on March 16 by Governor Banwarilal Purohit at Khatkar Kalan, the ancestral village of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh.
- Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia, Cabinet colleague Satyendra Jain and Punjab in-charge for AAP Raghav Chadha also attended the ceremony, all wearing yellow turbans.
- Yellow, a colour associated with Bhagat Singh, was used by the AAP during the campaign.
- Mr Mann, who contested from Dhuri assembly constituency in Sangrur district, won by a margin of 58,206 votes over Congress’ Dalvir Singh Goldy.
