BAGHA JATIN STATUE DEFACED IN BANGLADESH

In Bangladesh, a statue of the freedom fighter Bagha Jatin was defaced by some miscreants in Kushtia district.

  • The incident was reported from the Kaya college in Kumarkhali Upazila.

Who was Bagha jatin?

  • Bagha Jatin, whose real name was Jatindra Nath Mukherjee, was born at Koya village in the Kushtia district in 1879.
  • He was a revolutionary leader and was implicated in the Alipore Conspiracy Case and Hawra-Shibpur Conspiracy Case.
  • He earned his title, ‘Bagha’ in 1906 after he stabbed it to death a Royal Bengal Tiger which has attacked Jatin’s cousin.
  • He died on 10 September 1915.
