Herath festival

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 10, 2021 greeted people on the occasion of Herath, one of the biggest festivals of Kashmiri Pandits.

  • In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Herath Mubarak and prayed that the auspicious occasion furthers happiness and well-being all across.
  • Festival Mahashivratri locally known as Herath in Kashmir is being celebrated across J&K by Kashmiri Pandit Community with religious fervour by offering “Watak Nath Pooja”.
  • It is a three day festival which began on March 10, 2021.
  • The Jyeshteshwara shrine in Srinagar, Jammu Kashmir, more popularly known as the Shankaracharya Temple, was decorated with lights ahead of Hearth or Maha Shivratri. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.
