The Prime Minister has lauded the completion of Arch closure of the Chenab Bridge, World’s highest Railway Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir by Indian Railways.
In a tweet, Shri Modi said that capability and trust of the countrymen is setting an example before the world. Railway Minister Shri Piyush Goyal announced the completion of Arch closure of the bridge.
- The arch, the most difficult part of the Rs 1,400-crore bridge over Chenab, is a major leap towards the completion of the 111 km long-winding stretch from Katra to Banihal.
- The Chenab Railway Bridge is a part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link (USBRL) project and the completion of the steel arch was one of the most difficult parts of the bridge over Chenab.
- The iconic bridge is 1315 metres long and is the world’s highest railway bridge being 359 metres above the river bed level.
- The Arch of the Chenab Bridge will be 35 meters higher than the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
