Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Reddy moots ‘three capital cities’ idea

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy has mooted the idea of three capitals for the state while participating in a debate Amaravati on the last day of the winter session on December 17, 2019.

He has proposed the legislative capital at Amaravati, the executive capital at Visakhapatnam and the judicial capital at Kurnool.

The State government hasappointed an expert committee under the leadership of GN Rao, a retired IAS official, to consult the public, study the issue and come up with recommendations.

AP CM Jagan Reddy gave the example of South Africa, which has three capitals. South Africa has three capitals — Pretoria- the administrative Capital, Cape Town-a legislative capital, and Blomemfontein, the judicial capital.
