- The Andhra Pradesh government has banned the 100 years old popular play ‘Chintamani Padya Natakam’.
- The government’s decision to ban the staging of the play was in response to the representation submitted by the members of a particular community objecting to certain dialogues and portrayal of a character in the noted Telugu play.
- The play was authored by playwright Kallakuri Narayana Rao in 1920, and the artistes of the play had celebrated its centenary in 2021.
