The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the demise of Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
- In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “My deepest condolences to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Eswatini for the tragic demise of Prime Minister Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini.
- Although officially renamed Eswatini in 2018, the landlocked country in southern Africa, is more well-known in India by its former name Swaziland.
- In April 2018, King Mswati III of Swaziland announced the renaming the country as ‘the Kingdom of eSwatini’. The name is sometimes also spelled as ‘Eswatini’.
- The name change was announced during celebrations for 50 years of Swazi independence from British rule.
