Haryana Government will set up a separate “Haryana Narcotics Bureau” (HNC) within a year in an attempt to curb drug menace in the State.
Home Minister Shri Anil Vij on December 20 announced to set up the HNC after presiding over a review meeting of ‘Operation Prahar’ in Chandigarh.
Operation Prahar
‘Operation Prahar’ is a Haryana police drive, launched in November 2019 to fight organised crime and growing drug menace in the State.
According to the Haryana Government, state police confiscated more than 43 kg of drugs and 52137 bottles of illicit liquor under the Operation Prahar between November 20 and 27, 2019 across the State. Police also booked 395 persons under Satta/Gambling Act from across the State and recovered more than Rs15.14 lakh from their possession. In addition, Police also registered 7 cases.
