After government agencies, now popular social media Facebook is going to make Aadhaar name mandatory for new Facebook users. Currently it is testing it’s application for its new feature in India.
-According to Facebook, this move will encourage users to make a Facebook account on their original name, and not on fake names. Currently, it is still in testing phase, and Aadhaar based sigh up/sign in has not been mandatory yet.
-Facebook also said using the name on their Aadhaar card, will help a person to recognize their friend.
-Facebook has clarified, however, that users will require their name on Aadhaar card and not their number.
-However, this move will certainly raise eyebrows, since Aadhaar data leaking is being widely discussed at every quarter. There have been concerns about the safety of Aadhaar data after private details of citizens were leaked on government websites and from private bodies like banks, telecom operators and financial organizations.
