Xi Jinping-the President of China has announced to apply to join the Digital Economy Partnership Agreement to strengthen international cooperation on digital regulation.
- The pact known as DEPA (Digital Economy Partnership Agreement) currently covers Singapore, New Zealand and Chile, while Canada has expressed an interest to join it.
- The DEPA was signed in an entirely online virtual signing ceremony by New Zealand, Chile and Singapore on 12 June 2020 and has entered into force for New Zealand and Singapore on 7 January 2021.
