The Vice President of India, Shri M Venkaiah Naidu on November 30, 2020 represented India at the 19th session of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
- The 19th session of the SCO Council of Heads of Government was hosted by India.
- India hosted the summit for the first time after it gained full membership of the influential grouping in 2017.
- This Summit is held annually at the level of Prime Ministers of SCO and deals primarily with the trade and economic agenda of the organization.
- Vice President Venkaiah Naidu chaired the 19th meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government.
- India assumed the Chairmanship of the SCO Council of Heads of Government on 2 November 2019 as per rotation from the previous Chair – Uzbekistan
- The Vice-President expressed his concern about States that leverage terrorism as an instrument of State policy and called upon Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States to enforce internationally recognized legal statutes to comprehensively eradicate safe havens, infrastructure and financial networks supporting terrorism.
