- Under the agreement, the UK has committed to providing at least £3 billion in military aid to Ukraine annually until 2030-2031, with further support promised as needed.
- The UK PM said the landmark century-long agreement commits the two sides to cooperate on defence — especially maritime security against Russian activity in the Baltic Sea, Black Sea and Sea of Azov — and on technology projects including drones, which have become vital weapons for both sides in the war.
- The treaty also includes a system to help track stolen Ukrainian grain exported by Russia from occupied parts of the country.
Sea of Azov
- The Sea of Azov is a small body of water surrounded by Russia and Ukraine connected to the Black Sea by the Kerch Strait.
- The Black Sea is connected with the Aegean Sea through the Bosporus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles, and with the Sea of Azov by Kerch Strait.
