Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary

Four Uttarakhand forest department staffers died and four others were injured when the team was caught up in a raging forest fire in Almora district’s Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary.

  • Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the top of the Jhandi Dhar Hills which is situated at a distance of 35 km from Almora in Kumaon Region of the state of Uttarakhand.
  • The wildlife sanctuary covers the total area of around 45.59 sq km and is situated at an elevation of 2500 m and is an important landmark of the small town of Binsar.
